ABOUT US
The Coordination Centre of Environmental Projects (CKPŚ) is a nationwide facility of the State Forests established by the Director General of the State Forests to initiate, coordinate, and manage projects financed by EU funds and the forestry fund within the units of the State Forests.
Since 2007, we have been supporting the large-scale and comprehensive implementation of the State Forests' tasks related to nature conservation and climate change adaptation in forested areas managed by the State Forests. Additionally, as an Implementing Institution for European Funds under the Infrastructure and Environment Programme, we supported nature conservation activities carried out by national parks, municipalities, NGOs, governmental administrations and scientific units.
Key areas of the Centre activities:
- Coordination of State Forests' development projects related to climate change mitigation and energy transformation
Under this task, the Centre supports the General Directorate of State Forests in implementing projects such as:
- Forests of Energy
- Carbon Forests
- Increasing energy efficiency of buildings in State Forests
- Coordination of forestry and nature conservation projects co-financed by EU funds under the 2014-2020 financial perspective
The Centre was responsible for coordinating three projects under the Integrated Programme "Adaptation of forests and forestry to climate change" until 2020. The programme included the following initiatives:
- Comprehensive project for adapting forests and forestry to climate change – small retention and combating water erosion in lowland areas
- Comprehensive project for adapting forests and forestry to climate change – small retention and combating water erosion in mountain areas
- Comprehensive project for adapting forests and forestry to climate change – prevention, mitigation, and limitation of forest fire hazards
- The fourth project coordinated by the Centre was:
- Comprehensive project for the protection of species and natural habitats in areas managed by State Forests
These projects were completed in 2023. However, the Centre continues to fulfill its coordinator responsibilities due to the durability period, ensuring the sustained effects of these projects even after their closure.
Currently, the Centre is preparing further editions of the aforementioned projects and a new initiative: "Forests for Wetlands" – protection of hydric habitats in environmentally valuable areas.
- Implementation of the "Point for Nature" project (Beneficiary Support Centre)
The Point for Nature is an information and advisory point where potential and actual beneficiaries of EU Funds can receive advisory and training support in the preparation and settlement of EU projects for environmental protection and biodiversity. The Point operates under the following EU programmes for 2021-2027:
- European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment (FEnIKS)
- European Funds for Eastern Poland (FE PW)
- 16 regional funds

- Acting as an Implementing Institution (IW) for Action 2.4, Priority Axis II of the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020, focusing on project types:
- Protection of in-situ or ex-situ endangered species and natural habitats
- Development of green infrastructure, including enhancing the connectivity of terrestrial and aquatic ecological corridors important for biodiversity conservation and climate adaptation
Over 8 years, the IW beneficiaries implemented 75 projects focused on Polish nature conservation, including species and habitat protection and ecological corridor development. The total value of projects coordinated by us exceeded PLN 300 million. Beneficiaries of the IW included national parks, NGOs, State Forests units, local authorities, state budget units, as well as scientific and research units.
CKPŚ continues to fulfil the IW duties until the closure of the Infrastructure and Environment Programme, primarily in terms of project monitoring during their sustainability period and reporting.
- Preparation and coordination of new projects for State Forests
The Centre also carries out other tasks commissioned by the General Directorate of State Forests to initiate and comprehensively prepare new nature, climate, and energy-related projects.
We engage partners for projects and collaborate with them through subsequent stages. We handle the entire project lifecycle from initiation, through project proposal development, preparation of documentation, implementation and settlement, to closure.
Working within interdisciplinary teams, we provide expert assistance not only in technical areas but also in finance, public procurement, and environmental impact assessments.
